From February 9–15, 2025, young people from Poland, Italy, and Spain gathered in Comarruga, Spain, for an inspiring Erasmus+ Youth Exchange: Breaking Barriers — Exploring and Challenging Stereotypes. The week was filled with dynamic activities, meaningful discussions, and a celebration of diversity, all designed to foster understanding and break down stereotypes.

Day 1 — Getting to Know Each Other

The journey began with an exciting icebreaker session, including name games and group dynamics to help participants connect. Through team reflection, the group set the tone for a week of openness, learning, and personal growth.

Day 2 — Polish Day: Power and Oppression

The Polish team led the day’s activities, focusing on power structures, oppression, and stereotypes.

  • The Flower of Intersectionality helped participants understand different layers of identity and social perception.
  • Emotion Dance vs. Mind Dance explored the contrast between emotions and rationality in human behavior.
  • HERSTORY at the Beach — A powerful role-play session highlighting social injustices and their impact on radical behaviors.
  • Draw Your Rage — Participants created protest posters reflecting their perspectives on oppression and change.

The evening ended with Polish Intercultural Night, featuring traditional food, music, and cultural sharing.

Day 3— Free time to explore Catalan coast

Day 4— Italian Day: The Power of Storytelling

Storytelling was at the heart of the day, emphasizing how narratives shape our perceptions.

  • The Italian team introduced narrative structures and different ways to tell a story.
  • Participants experimented with visual storytelling, comics, and fanzines, creating engaging storyboards.
  • A chill beach session provided a relaxed space for sharing stories and reflecting on their meanings.

The day ended with Italian Night, filled with laughter, food, and cultural activities.

Day 5— Reflection and Spanish Day

The final day focused on consolidating learning and reflecting on the week’s experiences.

  • Groups creatively re-enacted each day using different drama techniques.
  • A World Café discussion helped analyze EU key competences gained during the exchange.
  • Personal reflections were shared using Dixit cards, adding a creative touch to self-awareness.
  • Participants received their Youth Passes, recognizing their growth and achievements.

The program closed with Spanish Night, featuring a performance by a local dance club, bringing a perfect cultural end to the exchange.

Final Thoughts

Breaking Barriers was more than just a project — it was a transformational experience that fostered deep connections, challenged perspectives, and empowered young people to be changemakers.

A huge THANK YOU to all participants, team leaders, and trainers for making this week unforgettable! Safe travels home, and let’s keep breaking barriers wherever we go! 🚀🌍✨
